Coast Region gets 12 fire vehicles, rescue boat

KIBAHA: THE government has provided the Fire and Rescue Force (FRF) in the Coast Region with 12 firefighting vehicles and one rescue boat, all worth 7.9bn/-.

The move is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity of defence and security organs across the country, with the aim of enhancing the safety and security of people and their property.

Speaking during the handover ceremony held in Kibaha Municipality on Friday, Coast Regional Commissioner Mr Abubakar Kunenge said the new vehicles and boat will boost the department’s efficiency, particularly during disaster response operations.

“We are truly grateful for the continued efforts of our government under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan to ensure that people and their property are well protected from the effects of natural disasters and accidents,” he said.

For her part, the Regional Fire and Rescue Force Commander, Ms Jenifa Shirima, expressed appreciation to the government for prioritising the department in the provision of essential resources and working tools.

“The vehicles and the boat we have received will greatly assist us in rescue operations and in delivering emergency services more effectively,” she said.

Ms Shirima added that the new equipment will also help reduce the impact of fire incidents, road accidents and other emergencies in the region.
