Kibaha allocates 1.1bn/- for entrepreneur groups

COAST REGION: THE government has reiterated its commitment to collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure women and youth groups across the country have access to affordable loans for running their businesses and generating income.

Kibaha District Council’s Community Development Officer, Ms Leah Lwanji, said during a one-day entrepreneurship training session facilitated by the CRDB Bank Foundation in collaboration with the Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC) that the council allocates 1.1bn/- for special groups loans in 2025/26 budget.

“There has been a notable increase in loan requests from entrepreneurs within our District Council.

“However, the current funds available are inadequate to meet the needs of the approximately 3,300 registered groups in our district,” said Mkami Noella Hangaya, the Kibaha District Development Officer for Women Empowerment Platforms, who delivered the speech on behalf of Ms Lwanji, recently.

Ms Lwanji urged entrepreneurs in the district to take advantage of the various financial opportunities provided by institutions such as CRDB Bank and others, which are supporting the government’s efforts to economically empower special groups.

CRDB’s Senior Specialist for Capacity Building and Monitoring, Ms Husna Ngoda, expressed gratitude for the government’s efforts in creating a conducive environment for the private sector.

“We work closely with the Community Development Officers in District Councils across the country and we are seeing the positive transformation of people’s lives,” she said.

Ms Ngoda also highlighted the success of CRDB’s iMbeju programme, a financial empowerment initiative launched in 2023, which has reached approximately 350,000 youths and women nationwide.

The programme offers training, capital support and financial literacy to help women and youth entrepreneurs grow their businesses.
