Kibadeni: Vigilance can help Yanga vs Tunisians

THE former Simba and national team coach Abdallah Kibadeni has advised Young Africans to be fully prepared for their CAF Confederation Cup play-off match against Tunisia’s Club Africain.

Kibadeni said  Yanga must know that the results in the first round of the CAF Champion League match against  Al Hilal of Sudan have irked their supporters and that the only way to bring back happiness into their faces is to prepare well and knock out Club Africain.

“They did not do well in their first-round match against Al Hilal; therefore, they must be vigilant and take the trouble to follow their opponent’s strengths and weaknesses so that they can qualify for the group stage of the Confederation Cup tournament,” he said.

He said the game against the North African teams, such as Club Africain in particular, is not easy, and there is nothing Yanga can do but to prepare well in order to beat their opponent.

“Yanga started their project to build the team in the past two seasons, and at last this season, they managed to get the team to compete though they still have to work harder.

They need to continue gaining experience in big-stage tournaments until they climb the top of the ladder like other African giants,” he said.

Yanga will travel to Tunisia to face Club Africain in the CAF Confederation Cup play-off fixture released yesterday.

The first leg between will be on November 2nd  in Tunis, and the second leg will be played at Benjamini Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on November 9th.

The last time Yanga played in the Confederation Cup group stage was in 2018. Then, they were drawn into the group with Mc Algier of Algeria, Rayon Sport of Rwanda, and Gor Mahia of Kenya.

The Tunisian giants Club Africain knocked out Kipanga of Zanzibar 7-0  after a barren draw in the first leg match at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.

In another development, Young Africans signed a memorandum of understanding with the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) to raise public awareness in the importance of taking the Ebola and Covid-19 vaccines to prevent the spread of the two diseases.

After the signing, the President of Young Africans Hersi Said, said:
