SERENGETI Girls Head Coach Bakari Shime said his charges have had a fruitful camp in London as they fly to India today ready for the 2022 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup set to begin on October 11th to 30th.
Tanzanian ladies will launch their campaign on October 12th against Japan in their group D match at Fartoda Stadium in a seemingly tough fixture to either side.
Again, the brave girls will be in action on October 15th versus France before winding up their group D campaign by facing Canada on October 18th.
However, the country’s envoys camped in London where they engaged in two friendly duels aimed at enabling players to have a glimpse of what they should expect during the three matches in their group.
“So far, everything is well in my squad and the girls have been responding positively to the training sessions. At least, we have a picture of what we should in India during the finals.
“We expect to depart here (London) tomorrow (today) for India so that we can have ample time to get used to environment before the commencement of the matches,” Shime said.
He added that if everything goes well, before heading to India, they can have a third friendly match against Leicester in order to complete a package of three friendly matches as initially planned.
However, on Tuesday, Serengeti Girls squad had a tour of admiring London city which Shime described it as a vital mind relaxation experience for the players before their deployment to the battlefield.
This is the first time ever for Tanzania side to play at the Under-17 Women’s World Cup event an experience which will remain forever.
