Kariakoo derby thrills President Samia as Yanga thrash Simba 5-1

DAR ES SALAAM: President Samia Suluhu Hassan has congratulated Young Africans for emerging victors against Simba in a traditional derby match branded Kariakoo Derby.

Via her official X account after the match, Tanzania’s Head of State writes: “congratulations Yanga for the win against Simba in the Mainland Premier League.

Young Africans player in a jovial mood after hammering their archrivals Simba SC 5-1 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

“Your traditional rivalry of over 85 years is a very important part of our entertainment…you bring together in a special way millions of Tanzanians within and outside the country.”

However, Yanga have won the match 5-1 to go at the top of the Premier League table.

They now have 21 points and have scored 25 goals in eight games.

The victory has also witnessed the end of Simba’s unbeaten run of the season and also, the first defeat for Simba coach Roberto Oliveira.
