Karia affirms distinct roles for Federation, League Board

TANGA: WALLACE Karia has been re elected to serve as President of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) for another four year term, following his endorsement by delegates at the General Assembly held here.

In his remarks after the confirmation, Karia underlined the importance of clearly defined responsibilities between the Federation and the League Board.

He stated that TFF will remain solely responsible for formulating football regulations, while the League Board will retain its role as the implementing and supervisory body of those regulations.

“We have removed all references to ‘TFF or League Board’ from official documents and regulations. The Federation will focus on drafting the rules, while the League Board will oversee their enforcement.Much of the recent concerns stemmed from issues around the Board’s empowerment and from now on, TFF will not be involved in those affairs,” Karia clarified.

He reassured stakeholders that the changes are aimed at enhancing professionalism and efficiency in the administration of football in Tanzania.

Karia also extended his gratitude to football stakeholders for their trust and called for unity in moving forward.

“This election process was far from easy. It was like passing iron through fire to make it stronger. Let us not bear grudges or assign blame. All that has happened was part of a process that, I believe, was divinely guided to strengthen us. Now, each of us must focus on fulfilling our respective duties,” he said.

Karia reaffirmed his commitment to developing the sport across the country, noting that TFF has many areas to manage beyond league operations. As an example of ongoing advancement, he announced that the Mnyanjani Centre in Tanga has now been officially recognised as a FIFA Talent Academy.
