Kairuki tables 222.59bn/- budget for the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology

DODOMA: THE Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, has proposed a 222.59bn/- budget for the 2026/27 financial year.

The Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Angella Kairuki made the request at the Parliament in Dodoma today seeking for the lawmakers approval as the ministry moves to accelerate key digital transformation priorities across the country.

Presenting the budget estimates, the Minister said the funds are heavily focused on development projects aimed at fast-tracking Tanzania’s digital transformation agenda.

Elaborating, he said 13.15bn/- equivalent to 5.9 percent of the total budget, has been set aside for recurrent expenditure, of which 6.37bn/- will go to salaries and 6.77bn/- to other charges.

Additionally, she said that the bulk of the budget which is 209.44bn/- or 94.1 percent has been allocated to development expenditure.

The minister further said that 98.48bn/- of the development budget will be financed locally, while 110.96bn/- will come from external sources.
