Kagera Sugar rope in new stars for league season
KAGERA-based Premier League side, Kagera Sugar have recruited seven new players in a bid to strengthen their squad for the 2023-24 league season.
Speaking to ‘Daily News’ on Thursday, the team’s Secretary General Ally Masoud named the newly recruited players as Gasper Mwaipasi and Obrey Chirwa(Ihefu), Abiudy Mtambuka(Mashujaa FC), Dickson Gidion, Cleophas Mkandala(Dodoma Jiji FC), Richardson Ng’ondya(Mbeya City) and Ally Ng’anzi.
He said all players have signed two-year contracts.
Masoud confirmed they have parted ways with eight players whom he named as Laurent Alfred, Yusuph Mhilu, Jackson Kibirige, Abeid Athuman, Yusuph Dunia, Meshack Mwamita and Erick Mwijage.
He further revealed that the registrations they are making are part of a big plan to ensure that they finish in the top five at the end of the Premier League season.
He said that the premier league is difficult, it needs significant registration and great preparation to withstand the challenges of competition while boasting that with what they have done so far, he believes their goal will be achieved in the coming season.
“We have done a good registration so far that is in line with the needs of the team, we are doing all that because the league is very difficult and this season we want to be among the top five teams, we believe our goals will be achieved if we put in the effort effectively, we will surpass the goal,” Masoud said.
Recently, Kagera Sugar played two matches, starting with a 1-1 draw with JKT Tanzania on July 29th this year at the Fresho Complex Stadium in Shinyanga Region, then on August 2nd they played against Vipers at St Marys stadium in Uganda and lost 2-1.
