Kabudi vows to strengthen collaboration for African Cultural Heritage

MOROGORO: MINISTER for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Palamagamba Kabudi, said the government will keep collaborating with universities to preserve and advance African cultural heritage.

He said this at the International African Cultures Conference’s opening at the Jordan University in Morogoro. Regarding the occasion, Kabudi underscored the role that academics would have in influencing African cultures in the future.

“To promote cultural diversity and strengthen the sustainability of cultural heritage, we will keep working with various higher education institutions,” he stated.

The event brought together scholars, students and cultural leaders to discuss important issues concerning preserving African traditions.

The 2024 International Africa of Tomorrow Conference aimed to unite diverse stakeholders in developing strategies to protect and promote African cultures and languages.

Key topics included indigenous agriculture, health, education, leadership, gender roles and societal ethics. One of the major discussions focused on preserving African languages in the face of increasing globalisation.

Other critical themes explored included the role of African traditions in the 21st century, the significance of African agriculture as a cultural heritage and the complex linguistic dynamics across the African continent.

The conference saw participation from renowned institutions both locally and internationally, such as PPEP Arizona (USA), JUCO, SUA, Mzumbe University, MUM, SUMAIT, the University of Zanzibar, Imo State University (Nigeria) and the University of Zimbabwe.

These discussions will play a vital role in shaping Africa’s cultural future and ensuring that its rich heritage is passed on to future generations
