Juma Choki: Tanzanian boxer faces Philippines’ Piala in Riyadh

SAUDI ARABIA: TANZANIAN boxer Juma Choki is set to step into the ring this evening in the ongoing World Boxing Championship taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Choki will face Bryx Piala from the Philippines in a round of 32 bout.

In a video message shared upon his arrival in Saudi Arabia, Choki called on Tanzanians to pray for him and offer their support so that he can perform well and bring pride to the nation.

“I’ve already arrived in Saudi Arabia. I humbly ask for your prayers and support as your brother. I believe I will do well,” said Choki, noting that the bout will be a six-round fight.

The National Sports Council of Tanzania (BMT) has also wished the boxer well, encouraging him to be a role model by representing the country honorably on the international stage.

According to data from Boxrec, this will be Juma Choki’s second international fight. His first was in Dubai, where he defeated Abdulaziz Ssebulime of Uganda.

So far, Choki has fought a total of 10 matches, winning nine and drawing one. His opponent, Bryx Piala, has fought 11 matches, winning nine and losing two.

Boxing fans across Tanzania are sending their best wishes to Juma Choki as he carries the national flag high globally.
