JKT Queens hit with five points deduction

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Women’s Premier League title holders, JKT Queens have been handed a five-point penalty by the Tanzania Women’s Football Committee for failure to honour their league match against Simba Queens.

The two teams were set to play their league game at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam on January 8th but only Simba Queens turned up at the venue.

A statement from the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) released yesterday in Dar es Salaam indicated that a pre-match meeting was held a day before the match and on the match day, both sides were reminded about the time and venue of the match by the Committee Chairperson.

“After going through the match report, the committee has decided to deduct five points from JKT Queens as well slap them with a three million shillings fine by article 32.1-3 of the Tanzania Women’s Premier League (TWPL), 2023 edition,” it says.

It further said the committee has awarded Simba Queens three points and three goals in response to Article 18:45 of the TWPL 2023 edition.

Again, the statement clarified that the committee has suspended JKT Queens General Secretary Duncan Maliyabwana from taking part in any football-related issues for twelve months.

Similarly, the statement revealed that the committee has also deducted three points from Alliance Queens for illegally featuring Nelly Kache in their match versus Geita Queens while knowing that she was not supposed to be used.

“The committee agreed that Alliance Girls made a mistake as such, they lost the match and the victory has been awarded to Geita Queens together with three points and three goals according to Article 48:23 of the TWPL 2023 edition.

“Also, Alliance Girls have been fined 500,000/-,” reads part of the statement while revealing that the team’s Manager Thereza Chacha has been slapped with a 500,000/- fine for submitting a false licence for Kache to play on the day.

Again, it said Kache has been fined 500,000/- by Article 42:11 of player regulations.

Due to the JKT Queens points deduction, Simba Queens are now at the top of the league log with 22 points, six points ahead of defending champions JKT Queens who now have 16 points.
