JKT Queens claim matured as champions

JKT Queens’ coach Ally Ally emotionally expressed how delighted they were after claiming the Women’s Mainland title following a close point gap battle with their runner-ups Simba Queens.

JKT Queens won the league title after collecting 46 points while runners up Simba Queens ended their campaign with 45 points.

JKT Queens dethroned the three-time holders Simba Queens.

On Wednesday, JKT Queens decorated their celebrations with an emphatic 7-2 win over Mkwawa Queens at Samora Stadium in Iringa.

After receiving the title, Ally told ‘Daily News’ how excited they were, considering they did not take any defeat in all 18 games, a record that no other team recorded.

“I am very proud to have achieved this victory and go into records as the coach whose team has managed to have an unbeaten record in all 18 games,” Ally noted.

The JKT Queens team Captain, Anastazia Katunzi, said the secret behind their victories includes unity, dedication and morale in each encounter.

She also thanked the team’s management and supporters.

Anastazia added that they will work hard to represent Tanzania in the zonal and continental competitions proudly.

“We are now starting preparation for the forthcoming CECAFA Women Competition and CAF Women Champions League,” she said.

Meanwhile, Fountain Gate Princess completed third and collected 41 points. They ended their campaign with a 6-0 win.

Yanga Princess finished fourth with 34 points after beating Amani Queens 4-1 in their last encounter.

Alliance Queens finished fifth overall with 27 points.

Ceasiaa are sixth with 22 points, tied on points with Baobab Queens but are above them on superior goal average.

Amani Queens finished eighth with eight points but survived the relegation demon by a goal advantage against The Tigers Queens.

Therefore The Tigers Queens and Mkwawa Queens have been relegated, and they will be replaced by newly promoted teams, Geita Queens and Bunda Queens.
