JKCI, Little Hearts team up for life-saving cardiac surgery

Specialists at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) in collaboration with the Muntada Aid Little Hearts team from London UK are expected to run an eight-day special medical camp to treat children with heart complications.

A statement issued on Wednesday by JKCI said the special medical camp will run from May 12 to 19, this year.

“We call upon parents and all the people who have children with heart complications specifically heart holes, problems with blood vessels and heart valves (ASD, PDA, VSO for device closure, PDA and Pulmonary Valvular Stenosis) to bring them to the institute for further examination and getting the right treatment,” reads the statement.
The Institute encourages general public to continue to donate blood to save lives of patients.

“One heart surgery patient uses between six and seven vials of blood…therefore, the need for blood is great for a patient undergoing heart surgery,” it says.
