JK tour cements Tanzania-Algeria ties

ALGERIA: TANZANIA’S former president, Jakaya Kikwete, has met with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in a tour that enhances the long-standing and fraternal relations between the two nations.

The talks focused on strengthening diplomatic ties and enhancing cooperation in key sectors such as trade, investment, education, health, and defense.

The statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the meeting took place in Algeria, where the two leaders emphasized solidarity and collaboration that date back to the African liberation movements. They also discussed ways to further develop their relationship for the mutual benefit of both countries.

Kikwete attended the meeting on behalf of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan and conveyed Tanzania’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Algeria. He also highlighted their shared vision for economic growth and regional stability.

For his part, President Tebboune commended the historic friendship between Algeria and Tanzania and affirmed Algeria’s readiness to strengthen collaboration in various sectors of mutual interest.

Before their meeting, former President Kikwete was received at the Algiers Presidential Palace by Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Health, Abdelhak Saihi, and Secretary-General of the Presidency, Boualem Boualem.
