Jan International hails its operations in Tanzania for advancing the country’s economy

DAR ES SALAAM: JAN International has said its operations in Tanzania have contributed to the country’s economy through employment creation, government revenue and supporting businesses linked to the motor vehicle sector.

Jan International Managing Director, Ally Akbar, said the company currently employs more than 100 workers, creating employment opportunities in areas including vehicle sales, customer care and other operations.

He said the company’s activities also contribute to government revenue through compliance with taxes and other regulatory requirements governing the motor vehicle business.

“We have been in Tanzania for more than 15 years, and during this period we have continued to contribute to the economy through employment and our business activities,” Mr Akbar said.

He said the company’s contribution extended beyond its direct operations, as the motor vehicle business supports other players involved in transportation, vehicle maintenance, spare parts and other services required by vehicle owners.

Mr Akbar said Jan International’s customers came from different parts of the country, with the company continuing to serve clients seeking motor vehicles through its operations in Tanzania.

He said compliance with the country’s laws and regulations was important in ensuring that the company continued to operate effectively and maintain good relations with authorities, employees and customers.

Mr Akbar was speaking at a customer appreciation event held in Dar es Salaam, where the company conducted a lucky draw that saw Omar Tajiri win a Mercedes-Benz 2015.

Other winners received various prizes, including a motorcycle, mobile phones, a 75-inch television, 19m/- in cash, a 50 per cent discount, a refrigerator and other prizes.

Speaking after winning the car, Mr Tajiri said he was a car enthusiast and had been doing business with Jan International, adding that he had also encouraged other people looking for vehicles to consider buying from the company.

Meanwhile, Recho Manyata, who won a motorcycle, said she was pleased with the prize and planned to use it for business and transportation activities.

Mr Akbar said the company was preparing to hold a bigger lucky draw in December, where four winners would each receive a car.
