It’s do or die for Mbeya City vs Mashujaa

All is set as Mbeya City welcome Mashujaa in a decisive second-leg battle for a spot in the top-flight league at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya today.

The hosts need to overturn a 3-1 loss they suffered last week at Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma to revive their hopes of staying in the top-flight league next season.

Less than that, then the Kigoma region envoys will be promoted to the top-flight league and join their former Championship fellows; JKT Tanzania and Kitayosce, who have already grabbed tickets to parade in the Mainland Premier League.

However, to ensure maximum support of their home fans, Mbeya City declared free entry into the stadium, meaning that the atmosphere inside the venue will likely be explosive as Mbeya residents would like to keep seeing their representatives remaining in the contest.

Already, Mbeya City missed the first attempt to stay in the top-flight league after being eliminated with a 3-2 aggregate defeat from Kinondoni Municipal Council.

In this regard, a complete set of 16 teams to battle for the 2023/24 Premier League title will be known after the final whistle of today’s tense encounter that draws attention of many people.

Mbeya City need to increase efforts to eliminate Mashujaa who seem to be a tough nut to crack.

In their first playoff Mashujaa eliminated Pamba with 5-4 aggregate win after a 4-0 home win and a 4-1 away loss.
