PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa is set to grace the upcoming NBC Dodoma Marathon slated at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma this Sunday.
This was disclosed on Wednesday by Dodoma Regional Commissioner Rosemary Senyamule in Dodoma during a press briefing. She urged residents to be ready for business opportunities.
“Throughout this week, money circulation in our region is going to be high because we expect to welcome many people from within and outside the country.
“During their stay, they will need food, accommodation, clothes, transportation and many other things to satisfy their needs. Hence, people from here should be ready to provide such services,” she said.
She added that it is also a platform to facilitate growth of marathon among Tanzanians as they will have a chance to compete with their colleagues from outside the country.
Senyamule encouraged participants to come to the big event to appreciate various development activities happening in Dodoma.
“We have lots of attractions like the government city under construction, ring roads, the State House, Parliament and many others,” she said.
According to NBC Managing Director Theobald Sabi, this year the bank aims to raise 300m/- to fight cervical cancer and provide scholarships for midwives.
“This season, we want to channel the proceeds to help fight cervical cancer. This is a leading cause of death for women in the country. We have partnered with the Ocean Road Cancer Institute to ensure that we can achieve this in an amicable manner.
“Also, in collaboration with the Benjamin Mkapa Foundation, some of the proceeds will be directed towards scholarshipsfor midwives to arrest the problem of deaths of women during delivery,” he said.
Meanwhile, through the NBC Instagram account, they have announced that tickets for the 5km race have been sold out. Still individuals for a chance take part in the 10km, 21km and 42km are still available.
