THE defending champions, Young Africans taste the Premier League today by face Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam.
The coaches of both teams are expecting a challenging game in their quest to win maximum points.
During the press briefing, the coaches insisted on how prepared and determined their, with Young Africans Coach Miguel Gamondi expressing his long wait for the first Mainland Premier League’s debut today.
“I am confident with my squad and I am sure we will do a great job. I am so delighted our newly sign-in players are adapting well. They all seem ready to play their first league debut,” he said.
Gamondi further acknowledged his opponents KMC describing them as a good team coached by an experienced coach.
KMC Coach Abdihamid Moalin on his side, insisted that they had fruitful preparations for the match.
He also added all his players are in good shape to face the defending champions.
Yanga’s Denis Nkane disclosed that the squad’s morale is high eagle waiting to begin the league campaign.
On the KMC side, their star player, Awesu Awesu noted it will indeed be a fierce encounter following the quality and form of their opponent. Hence they respect Yanga but do not fear them.
As Yanga play their first encounter, KMC will be playing their second game. Before meeting Yanga today, KMC faced Namungo at Majaliwa Stadium where the encounter ended in a 1-1 draw. A victory against Yanga in today’s match will earn them four points.
Gamondi’s men are already in a combat mood as they come fresh from their 2-0 success over ASAS of Djibouti in the first leg preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup at Azam Complex on Sunday.
However, they face a different team in another competition meaning that they have to reset their minds knowing in advance that in the premier league, gathering maximum is crucial.
