ISRAEL-PALESTINE CONFLICT: IPU dispatches committee to war-torn area
Tel Aviv, ISRAEL: The President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Dr. Tulia Akson, has directed the committee responsible for Middle East affairs to visit the war-torn Israel-Palestine area to formulate a solution for the ongoing conflict.
Dr. Tulia, also serving as the Speaker of the United Republic of Tanzania’s Parliament, issued these instructions during a two-day work visit to Tel Aviv, Israel. During her visit, she engaged in discussions with various Israeli leaders and Palestinian authorities.
“Both the Palestinian and Israeli Parliaments are members of the IPU. I want to inform them that we stand with them during this challenging period. Our committee, focused on Middle East issues, will be here in the coming days to assess the reality of this crisis. We aim to gather information for discussion, exploring paths towards a future of peace and security for everyone,” stated Dr. Tulia.
Elaborating further, the IPU President emphasized that one of the fundamental principles of the IPU is to ensure the protection of every human being’s life. The Union is committed to doing everything possible to make the world a safe and peaceful place for all individuals, regardless of their race, ideology, beliefs, or places of origin.
“As part of our strategic plans, we intend to dedicate the year 2024 to a detailed discussion of Peace and Security. This will be a crucial agenda in our General Meetings scheduled for March and October,” she insisted.
