Irish Envoy applauds Govt, local factories for driving economic growth

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Irish Ambassador to Tanzania, Ms Nicola Brennan has commended the Tanzania government for fostering a conducive environment that supports investors and businesspeople, enabling them to operate profitably in the country.

She said that the number of investors in Tanzania has continued to grow, thanks to the business-friendly policies implemented by the Sixth Phase Government.

The ambassador also applauded local factories that utilise raw materials sourced from within the country, noting that the practice contributes to increased production and provides significant employment opportunities for Tanzanians.

The envoy was speaking during her visit to KIOO Limited in Changombe, Dar es Salaam, a company that produces bottles.

“I am very pleased to see the industry employing modern technology in the production of bottles,” she remarked.

The envoy expressed her satisfaction upon learning that 99 per cent of the raw materials used in bottle production are sourced locally in the country.

“I am truly impressed by how this company produces bottles using the latest technology while relying on Tanzanian raw materials. I congratulate them for this significant and commendable achievement,” she said.

She also commended the environmentally friendly technology employed in bottle production and encouraged the factory management to maintain their commitment to sustainability.

Moreover, the ambassador expressed her pleasure with the company’s short – and long-term plans, including the expansion of the factory to boost production.

In November last year, KIOO Limited was recognised as the winner in the Mineral Sector among companies using local raw materials for their production activities.

The award was presented by Vice-President Dr Philip Mpango during an event attended by various industrialists and investors across the country.

The awards, known as the President’s Manufacturer of the Year Awards (PMAYA), are coordinated by the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI) and are given annually to industrialists who demonstrate excellence in their fields.
