Introduce window for students to apply visas, Chinese embassy advised

GLOBAL Education Link (GEL) Director Abdulmalik Mollel

GLOBAL Education Link (GEL) has asked the Chinese Embassy in the country to open a special window for students applying for visas to study in their country.

The GEL said there were many Tanzanian students who would like to study in China, so such window will simplify visas application for them.

The plea was made by GEL Director Abdulmalik Mollel over the weekend in Dar es Salaam during the farewell ceremony for 46 young Tanzanians who went to study various courses in China with the funding from the government, a scholarship which is offered every year.

Mr Mollel said China has many universities that charge normal fees to enable Tanzanians who want to study in the country to afford.

“If a student wants to study in university with a mix of cultures, enough lecturers, adequate security and low costs, then China is the best choice because all these are there,” said Mr Mollel.

Mollel said for three years China had closed its borders due to Covid-19 threat but now the situation has returned to normal and Tanzanian students have started to go to study in China.

“Students are supposed to report to their universities in China on September 15th, so they have to get their Visa before that time,” he said.

Mr Mollel hailed the Visa Department in the embassy for providing cooperation and support to students who apply for visas.

He said due to good relationship between the government of Tanzania and China, the GEL will continue to encourage more Tanzanian students to study in various universities in China.
