THE government has instructed all public institutions to complete payment of outstanding workers’ contributions to the pension funds by 30 September this year
Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa issued the order on Wednesday in Dodoma when addressing the Parliament to conclude the 2023/24 budget meeting.
“I direct employers to keep records of the payment of employees’ contributions as well as to pay outstanding contributions to social security funds by September 30, 2023” Mr Majaliwa said.
He said there has been a challenge that some employers do not to keep records of employees’ contributions neither submit them on time to the pension schemes leading to inconveniences to employees during retirement.
The PM also directed all public institutions to pay for the services they get from other institutions including Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO), Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation (TTCL) , National Housing Corporation (NHC), Tanzania Building Agency (TBA) and the Water Authorities by 30 September 2023 to avoid disruption of the operation of those institutions.
“Some institutions have been delaying payment or not paying at all for the services they get from other government institutions including water, electricity, telephone and construction services and thus affecting the performance of the service providers,” he noted.
