Inform public about major projects, Isles VP urges

ZANZIBAR: THE United Republic of Tanzania has implemented projects worth multitrillion shillings, but the public has not been fully informed.

That made the Second Vice President of Zanzibar, Hemed Suleiman Abdulla, emphasize the need for the public to receive accurate and timely information about various development projects implemented by both governments.

This, he said, will enable them to make informed decisions during the General Election in October 2025.

Speaking at the opening of a Government Communication Officers’ Workshop held at the New Aman Complex in Zanzibar, Abdulla said the United Government continues to implement major development projects, including the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), the improvement of sports facilities, and the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project.

He further noted that the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar is enhancing the Abeid Amani Karume International Airport and has commenced the construction of a new international airport on Pemba Island. Other projects include the upgrading of Malindi, Mkoani, Wete, and Mkokotoni ports, as well as the construction of the Mangapwani Integrated Port and Fumba Port.

Abdulla stated that these projects aim to improve service delivery, facilitate transportation and cargo logistics, reduce the cost of goods for citizens, and boost the country’s economy.

Additionally, he urged government communication officers to ensure that citizens receive accurate information about these development initiatives so they can make informed choices during the election.
