INEC trains election officials how to perform their duties as per constitution, electoral law guidances

TABORA: THE Chairperson of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Justice Jacobs Mwambegele, has urged election officials to honour their oaths of office and perform their duties in accordance with the Constitution, electoral laws and regulations.

Justice Mwambegele made the call on September 29, 2026, in Tabora Region while opening a training programme for election officials.

He said election officials should engage electoral stakeholders, avoid bias and carry out their responsibilities professionally rather than relying on routine practices.

He also instructed the officials to ensure that election materials are properly inspected and delivered to polling stations on time so that polling stations can open at 7:00 a.m. on election day.

The three-day training is part of preparations for the parliamentary by-election in the Chamwino Constituency, Dodoma, and councilor by-elections in 11 wards across Mainland Tanzania, scheduled for November 4, 2026.
