India’s Chief of Army Staff to visit Tanzania
THE High Commission of India is expecting the visit of the Chief of Army Staff of India to Tanzania from October 2 to 5 this year.
The General, among other activities, will address the National Defence College in Dar es Salaam and interact with Commandant and Faculty of Command and Staff College, Duluti.
According to a press statement availed to the media by the High Commission of India, the four-star General Manoj Pande is scheduled to call on the Minister for Defence and National Service, Chief of the Defence Forces and other senior military leadership of Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF).
It said between June 28 and 29 this year, Tanzania and India agreed on the roadmap at the second edition of India-Tanzania Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting that was held in Arusha.
The second edition of India-Tanzania Mini Defence-expo was conducted in Dar es Salaam, where the TPDF hierarchy showcased growing skills of the indigenous defence industry complex of India.
It should be noted that India and Tanzania have long standing defence cooperation in areas of trading, capacity building and equipment supply.
The visit of the Chief of the Army Staff further consolidates the high level of bilateral defence engagements between India and Tanzania, and he is expected to visit Zanzibar and interact with the Army Brigade.
