Ignore online rumors, Msando tells Tanzanians

DAR ES SALAAM: Ubungo District Commissioner, Advocate Albert Msando, has traders to dismiss fears that there will be unrest on the 29th due to claims of planned demonstrations.
Instead, he encouraged them to prepare to conduct business as usual because security and safety measures across the country will be sufficient.
Msando added that no Tanzanian will participate in protests, explaining that the person spreading these rumors online operates multiple accounts under false names and is not even in the country.
His intention, Msando said, is to discourage people from voting so that he can send reports to his foreign handlers, a tactic he described as a primitive strategy.
Msando made these remarks on Sunday this week when he was the guest of honor at a discussion forum with Village Community Bank ( VICOBA) savings group members from the Ubungo constituency In Dar es Salaam.

Advocate Msando also urged Tanzanians to dismiss fear and ignore online claims that there are abductions occurring in the country.
Msando stated that these days there is a trend where people cause panic when they are arrested by law enforcement for various offenses such as theft, sodomy, rape, etc., and then claim to have been abducted in order to tarnish the country’s image.
Additionally, Msando pointed out that some people claim a certain individual has been abducted, even when that person wasn’t even in Tanzania.
“So you ask yourself, where exactly was he abducted? Or do you have proof that he was in the country and where he was living?” Msando questioned.
Finally, he called on Tanzanians to rely on official sources such as police reports for information, rather than on those who spread misinformation.
