How Femina Hip uplifted youth talents

FEMINA Hip in collaboration with Denmark and Sweden embassies in Tanzania has uplifted the talent of over 15 million young people aged between 10 and 30 years in a period of 20 years.

This was revealed by the Femina Hip Deputy Director Ms Amabilis Batamula during the 20th anniversary of the Femina club in Tanzania held in Dar es Salaam recently.

“In twenty years of the Fema Club we have succeeded to uplift talents of more than 15 million youth in our country, who have carried the values, attitudes, and skills they learned into their careers, families, and social lives,” said Ms Batamula.

She said that in 2022 Femina Hip managed to register over 2,370 clubs in secondary schools, with over 230,000 members.

Ms Batamula also said that all registered clubs are supported by more than 2,720 dedicated mentors who are teachers in their respective schools who joined forces to form 81 networks across Tanzania.

She further said, the organisation produces print magazines, radio and television shows, social media campaigns, and other digital products to promote healthy lifestyles, sexual and reproductive health and rights, economic empowerment, citizen engagement, and gender equality.

On her part, Danish Ambassador, Ms Mette Nørgaard Dissing‐Spandet said through the partnership, more youth have started to live healthier lifestyles and positively contribute towards economic and social growth.

She also congratulated Fema Hip for their great work of changing youth life in Tanzania which has diligently provided for over two decades.

“We congratulate Fema Hip and it is a tremendous honour to work with Femina Hip in transforming the lives of youth in Tanzania,” the envoy said.

Also, the newly elected Fema club Board Chairperson Ms Anna Mwasha said Tanzanians need the right information to help guide their live

“I am pleased to attest that Femina Hip has diligently provided that for over two decades,” said Ms Mwasha.

On her side, one of the beneficiaries of Fema clubs in Tanzania, Ms Zauja Mohamed, thanked the Fema Club for its support which has enabled her to attain her goals and dreams.

Ms Zauja said, so far Fema Club has enabled her to achieve the goals of opening her foundation called NuruYetu Foundation which is focused on finding support for challenges in society such as sexual violence, and getting rid of economic and educational issues.

She also advised other young people who are in schools to join Fema Club because the clubs have been very helpful for talented young people but they do not know where they will get help and fulfill their dreams.
