DAR ES SALAAM: Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has reminded its members aspiring to vie for various posts to keep in mind that there are no vacancies to fill at the moment.
The announcement comes as the country is set to hold local government elections and general elections in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
The ruling party’s Ideology and Publicity Secretary, Mr. Paul Makonda, made the statement earlier on Thursday when briefing journalists at the CCM’s sub-office at Lumumba Streets in Dar es Salaam, saying that all ongoing provocations in fighting for those positions should stop.
“If there is someone who has ever contested for those positions or has the dream of being an MP or a councilor, let them know that the party recognizes the current parliamentarians and councilors. Let them stop going about doing fundraising,” he stated.
However, Mr. Makonda asked all party members to respect the incumbent leaders, including MPs, and give them full support.
“Let us respect our party’s procedures and respect the elected leaders so that they can do their jobs well. Destabilizing a member of parliament or a councilor is to destabilize the implementation of our manifesto,” he added.”
