High Court sentences Tundu Lissu to four years in prison for incitement

DAR ES SALAAM: CHADEMA Chairman Tundu Lissu has been sentenced to four years in prison after the High Court of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam Sub-Registry, found him guilty of incitement.
However, the court acquitted him of the treason charge he had been facing in a case arising from a speech he delivered on April 3, 2025, at CHADEMA headquarters in Dar es Salaam.
The case involved remarks in which he called on citizens to prevent the 2025 General Election and discussed mobilising rebellion as a means of bringing about change.
The judgment was delivered by a three-judge panel chaired by Judge Dunstan Ndunguru, alongside Justices James Karayemaha and Ferdinand Kiwonde.
