Here comes committee for strong national cricket team

TANZANIA: TANZANIA Cricket Association’s (TCA) has formed a special committee in efforts to build strong national teams. The committee has been announced, and will be responsible for the selection of players for the Under 19 Boys Team and Senior Men’s Team.

The committee includes Chief Selector Ayzaz Jasani, Board Member Ashish Nagewadia, and five other members. They are Jimmy Kamande (Senior National Team Coach), Hamisi Abdallah (TCA CEO), Riziki Kiseto (Women’s Team Head Coach), Basit Raza and Rishen Patel.

The selection was confirmed by TCA Media and Communication Officer, Atif Salim, who asserted: “We have formed a selection committee that will be responsible for the selection of players who will be camping in the national team. The committee is known as the Selection Committee for 2024.

“Recently about 20 players were called to the national team camp. Among the competitions that the national team will take part in include those that will take part in Malaysia, Zimbabwe and Ghana for All African Games.

“From the 20 players called up, they will train and be trimmed to the last squad that will take part in those competitions.” According to the new TCA Board, they continue to revolutionise Tanzanian cricket, which includes forming the selection committee.

The process was announced and interested individuals were encouraged to apply for the positions. The board noted that after receiving over 10 applicants, it reviewed the applications and concequently announced the selected committee members for 2024.
