Hemed calls for unity, discipline among staff

ZANZIBAR: SECOND Vice-President (2VP) of Zanzibar, Hemed Suleiman Abdulla, has urged leaders and staff in his office to maintain cooperation and unity in executing their daily duties.

He made the call when addressing officials and executives at his office shortly after resuming his duties, following his reappointment to serve in the same position for a second term in President Hussein Mwinyi’s administration.

He emphasised that unity and solidarity are key to achieving the vision, directives and goals of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar in delivering development to its citizens.

“Perform your responsibilities in line with the laws, regulations, ethics and guidelines established by the Public Service Commission, to ensure the government’s goal of providing quality services to all Zanzibaris is achieved,” Mr Abdulla said.

The Second Vice-President also underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration with other government institutions, noting that his office coordinates all government operations.

During the meeting, Mr Abdulla expressed his heartfelt gratitude to President Mwinyi, for once again entrusting him with the role and giving him the opportunity to continue contributing to the government’s development agenda.

For his part, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Second Vice-President, Dr Islam Seif Salum, congratulated him for his reappointment, assuring him of full cooperation and support from the management and staff in fulfilling the government’s objectives.

Dr Islam said both the leadership and staff have confidence in Hemed’s leadership, citing his strong teamwork during the first term and pledged to build upon those successes to further the government’s mission of bringing progress to the people of Zanzibar.

Meanwhile, the Second Vice-President’s aides and staff from the Private Office presented a congratulatory award to Mr Abdulla in recognition of his reappointment for a second term under the Eighth Phase Government.
