‘Hello Chinese’ brings Chinese heritage to Tanzania

DAR ES SALAAM: THE second season of Hello Chinese has officially premiered, serving as a new cultural bridge connecting global audiences to the richness of Chinese heritage.

The program is co-produced by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation under China’s Ministry of Education and StarTimes, to break down geographical and linguistic barriers and bring Chinese culture to viewers worldwide.

Covering diverse topics—from food, art, and traditions to everyday communication—Hello Chinese presents a modern image of China while honoring its cultural roots. Beyond entertainment, the program also offers practical opportunities for viewers to learn the Chinese language, making it easier for them to engage more deeply with Chinese culture.

A highlight of the show is the “Chinese Reading and Writing” segment, designed for learners at different levels. It guides them step by step, from mastering pronunciation and learning character strokes to forming complete sentences. This approach enables language enthusiasts worldwide to understand and use Chinese characters with greater ease, while appreciating the precision and beauty of Chinese expression.

To ensure accessibility, Hello Chinese is broadcast on multiple StarTimes channels: ST Sino Drama, Wednesday to Sunday at 16:50 GMT, with repeats at 5:50 GMT and 11:50 GMT the following day.ST Guide E: Monday to Friday at 17:00 GMT, with repeats at 11:00 GMT and 22:00 GMT the following day.
