Health Minister commends quality digital service at E.M Hospital

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Deputy Minister for Health, Dr Florence Samizi, has urged Tanzanians to invest in health infrastructure to bring medical services closer to the people.
The Deputy Minister has commended the E.M. Hospital in Kigamboni for the significant investment it made in a modern CT SCAN diagnostic machine and dialysis services which help reduce unnecessary referrals.
She made the commendations yesterday in Dar es Salaam and during the official launch of the hospital’s dialysis machine and CT SCAT health screening machine located in Mjimwema Ward, Kigamboni.
She said such investments support government efforts to bring services closer to the people and save the time and costs of citizens to follow these services in areas far from where they live.
“On behalf of the Minister of Health, Mohamed Mchengerwa, I would like to sincerely congratulate you for this investment. When I got there, I told my assistant that this is such a big deal. I congratulate you for your great leadership, and fulfilling your dreams and having good professional,” she said.
She said the investment made by E.M Hospital shows a sincere commitment to saving the lives of Tanzanians by providing them with proper and timely treatment.
“As the CEO of this hospital said, this investment has cost 10bn/- it is not a small amount of money, it is a very big investment, and it has been made by a native Tanzanian to support the government’s efforts to serve the Tanzanians, I congratulate all of you for fulfilling this vision,” he said.
She said that in order for a person to be able to work well, he must be in good health, so the government will continue to invest in the health sector to ensure that the country has healthy citizens.
“I sincerely congratulate President Samia for investing in the health sector, in just four years he has invested more than six trillion shillings which have gone into hospital and dispensary construction projects, she has been able to build 119 hospitals, 649 health centers and 2,700 dispensaries and install modern medical equipment and has employed health workers,” she said
“Services like dialysis are very important for citizens suffering from kidney disease so this service will greatly help citizens to filter blood and continue with their lives, we are used to getting these services abroad now today our own people has brought them to Kigamboni,” she said
“I heard that this is the first facility in Kigamboni to provide this service I would like to tell citizens around here that there is no need to go far to seek services come here E.M to get these services,” she said
The Director of the Hospital, Dr. Egna Makwabe, said they have been receiving patients from Congo DCR, Zambia, Malawi, Comoros, Burundi Rwanda, Benin, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Russia China and the United States.
“The arrival of patients from abroad really surprised us. We asked them if they were coming because of the location we are in or what exactly attracted them to leave all the hospitals and come to us. We discovered that it was their trust due to the services we provide,” he said.
He said that the hospital currently serves an average of 300 outpatients per day adding that they currently have expert doctors, nurses and laboratory specialists.
He said that E.M will collaborate with the government to ensure that universal health insurance benefits citizens when they get sick so that they do not have to pay for treatment.
He said that they provide outpatient services, inpatient services, surgical services, spinal treatment services, neurological and orthopedic services, laboratory and geology services, special care services and specialist kidney and cancer services.
