Health is your treasure, now nurture it well

DAR ES SALAAM: LIFE is a precious gift from God meaning that it is one’s responsibility to preserve it well in order to fully enjoy its fruits, otherwise, if proper care is lacking, its value cannot be appreciated.

Maintaining good health is a guarantee to enjoying life because it gives one the required energy to go out and execute his or her responsibilities for the sake of putting bread and butter on the table.

But frankly, in this technology powered world, there are many things that are contributing to make it difficult to embrace good health and this lead to the occurrence of health problems.

Some of the practices leading to poor health include consumption of processed foods that most people found tasty without knowing that they are secretly harming themselves.

Also, living without performing body exercises is another factor causing many health challenges among people mainly for those who consider exercising as a form of punishment other than a remedy to good health.

The use of phones as well as laptops are also quietly having consequences on people’s health especially when it comes to body posture as most people tend to bend their bodies, a posture that affects the spinal cord.

However, people can now breathe a sigh of relief thanks to the good services being provided by the Dar es Salaam based Revive Physiotherapy Limited, a medical centre that treats pains and injuries.

Working in the country for over 12 years, they have been able to bring back smiles and hope to thousands of people from within and outside the country who are now enjoying their life after attending and being treated at the clinic.

“My words and work have given hope to thousands of people…I want to continue today, tomorrow and ever after,” remarked the clinic’s Founder and Director Dr Lekhani Pashine.

She opened up that it was not easy to establish her medical centre but strong determination to serve people from different health setbacks that they encounter propelled her to move through the storm.

“Now we have two centres…the one is located here at Ocean Road which is the first clinic we established while the other is situated in Masaki and was launched in 2022…both of them, backed with a passionate team, are doing well,” she said.

From her humble beginning, there is a big lesson to learn of not giving up on anything that you strongly desire to accomplish in life, start with the resources you have and clear the path to prosperity.

According to her, from 2018 to 2025, they have successfully treated more than 12,000 patients from different parts of the world, a thing she said gives them courage to continue serving people with dignity.

“We are the best physio clinic here in Tanzania and the numbers of people we are treating can speak for itself…all this is being achieved by a team of dedicated health experts that we have here.

“We are also equipped with modern machines that enables us to give patients best treatment services and I am happy that most people trust us a lot,” she said.

In terms of pain management, Dr Pashine elaborated that they are capable to cure any pain that a person is experiencing such as neck pain, joint pain, back pain, muscle pain and many others.

“These pains are caused from many ways like lack of exercises, our body posture especially when using mobile phones that leads to neck and back pains.

“Most patients we receive here who are in their 20’s and 30’s do experience these type of pains…so it is very important to ensure that we posture our bodies well all the time to avoid such pains.

“Even improper use of laptops is also having an impact as far as back and neck pains are concerned… putting a laptop on your laps is the worst position to your well-being and it damages your spinal cord.

“As such, laptops should be placed in eyelevel position on the desk and you have to sit straight without bending your body when using them… otherwise, you do harm to your body,” she said.

She further emphasised that in schools, students ought to be taught on how best to posture their bodies when using phones, how to properly sit on the chair so as to do away with back and neck pains.

“Engaging in regular body stretching exercises and eating balanced diet of three meals per day is crucial and at the same time, avoiding sugary drinks but instead, drinking a lot of clean water.

“It is unfortunate that most people consider their meals incomplete without having soft drinks, but in reality, they are softly harming their health whose effects start to appear after a while,” she said.

She continued: “Nowadays, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD’s) are common because of poor lifestyle and in many families, you hardly miss someone suffering from NCD’s whose main cure is to embrace good lifestyle.”

On why Indians are doing well in health sector, she replied that those who pursue health profession are usually trained hard in order to become the best in the world.

“Wherever we go, we thrive to give out the best treatment services to our patients and personally, I am using the same basic training I got in my country (India) to help sick people who seek services at our clinic,” she said.

Iffat Akber expressed her excitement for the treatment rendered to her parents at the clinic saying “My heartfelt gratitude for the fantastic care you provided to my parents during their treatment…both are feeling significantly better and it’s all thanks to your dedication and expertise.

“Your attention to their needs and your encouragement have made a world of difference in their recovery. We truly appreciate all the time and effort you put into their sessions. Thank you once again for your outstanding work! We are glad we made the right choice coming to you,” she wrote.

Similarly, Dhrumit Mehtar who was once treated at Revive Physiotherapy Clinic wrote: “I had an ankle injury and some ligament damage.

After getting troubled for 8 months, I decided to try Revive and received amazing care and professional treatment here that enabled me to get back to full fitness within just 2 months! “The machines are of good quality and there’s enough time and attention given to each patient. Highly recommended – thanks a lot Dr Lekhani, Fredrick
