Harding: UK tycoon died in Titan disaster planned to visit Tanzania
UK billionaire, Hamish Harding, among five people who died in the missing Titan submersible, planned to visit Tanzania next month, Ministry for Natural Resources and Tourism divulges.
Information shared through the Ministry’s verified Instagram account ‘wizarayamaliasilinautalii’ says the 58-year-old Briton accompanied by his family members and 40 friends planned to tour Tanzania to climb Africa’s tallest Mount Kilimanjaro.
Mr Harding was forced to reschedule his visit to the country to July, 2023 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry states.
After the pandemic, President Samia Suluhu Hassan launched Royal Tour film, as the country’s initiative to revive the sector which was adversely affected.
According to the latest report by the Finance Minister, Dr Mwigulu Nchemba, the number of tourists plunged due to Covid-19, went up from 922,692 to 1,024,920, thanks to the Royal Tour programme.
