Green Summit commends NEMC’s role in promoting sound environmental management

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Minister of State in the Vice-President’s Office (Union and Environment), Hamad Yusuf Masauni, has commended the National Environment Management Council (NEMC) for its important role as a patron and institutional stakeholder of the Tanzania Green Summit.

Speaking on September 15, 2026, during the opening of the Tanzania Green Summit 2026, Minister Masauni said NEMC’s role reflects its mandate in promoting sound environmental management through enforcement of environmental laws, environmental impact assessments, inspections, research, public awareness and coordination of environmental matters.

Minister Masauni said Tanzania has significant opportunities in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, clean cooking energy, the circular economy, environmental conservation, waste management and the blue economy.
