BEIJING: PRESIDENT Hussein Mwinyi has said that Tanzania is in the process of preparing a special policy that will benefit Tanzanian diaspora by granting them ‘special status’ that will enable them enjoy various opportunities similar to those offered to other citizens.
“Both Zanzibar and the Union governments recognise the importance of involving Tanzanians living abroad and even other non-citizens but of Tanzanian origin in the development of our country,” Dr Mwinyi said this in Shanghai City, during a meeting with Tanzanian youth living in China.
The youth and members of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi Youth Wing (UVCCM) residing in Shanghai, China, for studies and other engagements, visited the hotel where Dr Mwinyi is staying to congratulate the party’s Vice Chairperson (Zanzibar) on the occasion of the 4th anniversary of his presidency.
Dr Mwinyi informed the party’s youth wing members that the reforms in the pipe- line aim to provide opportu-Mnities and pave way for the diaspora to actively participate in economic activities, social and other development programmes.

“This will also create a better environment for the diaspora to invest in the country, own property and allow close cooperation with the governments,” Dr Mwinyi said, urging the CCM Youth to continue being good am- bassadors of Zanzibar and Tanzania in general abroad.
The UVCCM in Shanghai- China praised Mwinyi for his good leadership displayed in the past four years in which Zanzibaris witnessed commendable changes in social services delivery, accountability in public institutions and infrastructure development.
The members of UVCCM, who are in China on different missions, including pursuing studies, decided to have a branch in Shanghai city, where they mobilised themselves and visited Wes- tin hotel, where they met Dr Mwinyi to deliver their 4th anniversary congratulatory message to him.
Dr Mwinyi has been in the giant Asian country for the 2024 China International Import Expo (CIIE), which started on November 05 and is scheduled to close today.
The UVCCM in Shanghai led by their leader Mr Juma Athumani Sima also commended Dr Mwinyi for the great success in strengthening international relations with many countries like China,
