Govt boosts Coast region fire, rescue force
KIBAHA: THE government has equipped the Fire and Rescue Force (FRF) in the Coast Region with 12 firefighting vehicles and one rescue boat, all valued at 7.9bn/-.
The move is part of the government’s continued efforts to strengthen the working tools of defence and security organs across the country, with the aim of enhancing the safety and security of people and their property.
Speaking during the handover ceremony held on Friday in Kibaha Municipal, Regional Commissioner Mr Abubakar Kunenge said the new equipment will significantly improve the department’s efficiency, especially in responding to disasters.
“We are really grateful for what our government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan is doing to ensure people and their properties are well protected against natural disasters and accidents,” he said.

Regional Fire and Rescue Force Commander Jenifa Shirima thanked the government for prioritising the department in the provision of essential working tools and resources.
“The vehicles and the boat we have received will greatly assist us in carrying out rescue operations, saving lives and providing emergency services more effectively,” she noted.
She added that the new equipment will help reduce the impact of fires, road accidents and other emergencies in the region.
