Govt assures Indian investors of good return

The government has reinstated its commitment to continue putting a friendly business environment that will support and guarantee good returns for investors.

The Minister for Investment, Industry and Trade, Dr Ashatu Kijaji told the Indian delegation led by the Cryogas Equipment Private Limited Executive Director, Mr Nayan Pandya, when she met with them in Dar es Salaam, on Thursday.

Dr Kijaji told the delegation that Tanzania is endowed with a variety of natural resources including a 1,424-kilometre coastline, large arable land, world-class tourist attractions, minerals, oil and gas and so forth.

“To create an environment for private sector growth and conducive for investments and businesses, the government launched a war against graft, grand corruption, excessive bureaucracy, laziness and instituting discipline in the public sector to create a more stable, predictable and attractive business climate,” Dr Kijaji said .

The country has made significant strides in improving the business through various programmes in particular introducing a blueprint for regulatory reforms to improve business environment geared to increase the flow of investments.

“The blueprint is focused on improving the business environment following an analysis of the business and investment environment for all sectors made by the government,” she said.

Also, the blueprint envisaged improving the business environment, especially laws, regulations and charges which were contradictory and overlapping posing various challenges in doing business.

Mr Pandya said his company is eyeing to invest in the country’s energy and natural gas sectors.
