DODOMA: THE ruling party CCM Musoma Regional Parents Wing has praised the efforts to enhance education and standards in the Musoma Rural Constituency, led by its legislator Prof Sospeter Muhongo and supported by the government.
” They particularly commended the area’s MP, Prof Muhongo, for his significant efforts in improving education, notably through the construction of secondary school infrastructure in the constituency During a visit to Nyakatende Ward, home to two secondary schools (Nyakatende and Kigera), the Chairperson of the Regional CCM Parents Wing, Mr Julius Kambarage Masumbo hailed Prof Muhongo for diligently supervising the execution of the party’s election manifesto.
“Prof Muhongo stands out as one of the best MPs in Tanzania… His contributions to education in this constituency are substantial. I have witnessed the funds he has allocated for construction, including the purchase of 100 bags of cement,” Masumbo stated.
He added that Prof Muhongo is among the MPs who stay in their constituency and work effectively with their constituents. Prof Muhongo has served as Minister for Energy and Minerals twice, from 2012 to 2015 and again from 2015 to 2016.

Masumbo also highlighted the impressive progress of the construction projects for three science laboratories—Physics, Chemistry and Biology—across each ward in the constituency.
The Musoma Rural constituency, which comprises 21 wards, currently has 26 ward secondary schools and 2 religious secondary schools.
Furthermore, the ongoing construction of 11 new secondary schools in various wards is part of a broader effort to meet the government’s goal of ensuring every ward has a quality secondary school and to enhance educational standards nationwide.
Mr Masumbo noted that the successful completion of these projects is due to excellent cooperation among the government, local residents and their leaders. He mentioned that Prof Muhongo has purchased 100 bags of cement, 48 steel bars of 12mm diameter and 112 roofing sheets for these projects.
The Parents’ Association also commended the Sixth Phase Government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan for prioritising the education sector and allocating funds for its development.
While acknowledging Prof Muhongo’s commendable efforts and his role as a model MP who actively engages with both the government and the community to address issues, the association urged other MPs to follow his example.
They emphasised that Prof Muhongo’s frequent presence in his constituency allows him to better understand and address challenges facing the rural dwellers.
