Government calls on Schools to priorities ICT training

MISSENYI: THE Government has called on schools across the country to prioritize Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training for students in order to keep pace with the rapidly evolving digital landscape and the growing role of technology in modern society.

The Government said that, given the rapid pace of technological advancement, schools should invest in modern and reliable infrastructure that enables students to acquire practical ICT skills. It commended Bunazi Green Acres School, located in Bunazi Township, Kassambya Ward, Missenyi District, Kagera Region, for setting a strong example in ICT education.

The remarks were made over the weekend by the Director of Missenyi District Council, Phocus Rwegasira, who was the guest of honour at the 10th graduation ceremony of Bunazi Green Acres School held at the school premises.

Rwegasira emphasised that technology education has become increasingly important as the world continues to embrace rapid digital transformation. He also stressed the importance of collaboration among parents, teachers and the wider community in ensuring that children receive quality education and proper guidance that prepares them to become future leaders and professionals.

He noted that while the school had invested in modern and quality infrastructure, student achievement could not be separated from the commitment and collective efforts of teachers, parents and school management. He therefore urged all stakeholders to fulfil their respective responsibilities diligently.

Rwegasira further encouraged the graduates to maintain discipline, work hard and remain committed to their studies as they progress to higher levels of education.

He urged them to take advantage of educational opportunities to build successful lives while contributing meaningfully to the development of their communities and the nation at large.

He also called on parents to remain closely involved in their children’s lives by monitoring their academic progress and instilling strong ethical and moral values.

During the ceremony, Rwegasira presented certificates to some of the graduates and commended the management of Bunazi Green Acres for successfully reaching its 10th graduation milestone and for its continued contribution to the education sector in Tanzania.

The Director of Bunazi Green Acres School, Jackline Rushaigo, underscored the importance of collaboration among the school, parents and the community in ensuring that students receive quality education and are raised with strong ethical values.

She said the achievements recorded by the school were the result of collective efforts by teachers, parents, students and other education stakeholders.

Rushaigo congratulated the graduates on reaching this important milestone and encouraged them to maintain discipline, hard work and determination as they advance to the next level of their education.

She also expressed appreciation to parents and guardians for continuing to place their trust in the school and for working closely with its management to provide students with a conducive environment for academic and personal development.

The Head of School, Geoffrey Moses, said that over the 10 years since its establishment, Bunazi Green Acres had recorded significant academic achievements, with its students consistently attaining Grade A results in national examinations administered by the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA).

He said the school had continued to invest in its infrastructure, including six classroom blocks comprising 25 classrooms, as well as a modern ICT laboratory equipped with internet connectivity to facilitate practical learning.

Moses said the school had also established a well-stocked library with both curricular and supplementary books, in addition to six dormitories equipped with beds for students. He said these facilities had played a significant role in creating a conducive learning environment and enabling the school to deliver quality education and consistently strong academic results.

“We are proud that throughout the 10 years since the school was established, we have maintained a strong academic performance. Over this period, we have produced 500 graduates, while the school has consistently achieved an average score of 251, which represents an outstanding Grade A performance,” he said.

He attributed the school’s success to the dedication of its teachers, student discipline, and strong collaboration among parents and the Government at various levels, from the ward level to the Ministry responsible for education.

“This year, we have 64 Standard Seven graduates, whom we believe will continue our strong academic legacy because they have been thoroughly prepared for the next stage of their education,” he said.

Moses further said that, recognising the rapid pace of technological advancement globally, the school had established an ICT laboratory with internet connectivity to provide students with practical computer skills.

“Our students take pride in using technology with confidence and creativity. We believe these skills will equip them to compete and succeed in today’s rapidly evolving digital world,” said Moses.
