THE government has wished Tanzanian envoys Simba and Young Africans the best of luck in their second leg quarter-final matches of CAF Interclub Games saying they have to play lungs out to succeed.
Chief Government Spokesperson, Gerson Msigwa made the call on Wednesday in Dar es Salaam when he presented Yanga with a 10m/- from President Samia Suluhu Hassan, via her presidential motivation award.
The Head of State buys each goal netted by Simba and Yanga in their international matches for 5m/- hence a 2-0 victory Yanga stamped over Rivers United in the first leg of Confederation Cup in Nigeria saw them pocketing twice that amount.
“On behalf of our President Samia Suluhu Hassan, let me congratulate you for winning the away game and the president is hopeful that you will stamp another victory in the return leg match on Sunday,” Msigwa said.
He added that President Samia is looking forward to attend the match such that if she gets enough time, she may personally come at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium to witness the encounter though it is not official if she will come or not.
“I wish you and Simba all the best in your upcoming second leg duels and without doubt, you are going to do wonders to keep representing Tanzania flag well on the international platform,” he said.
He added that what President Samia wants is for the duo to score as many goals as they can pledging that enough money is on stock as a reward for each goal.
However, in the quarterfinals, the two sides have scored a total of three goals meaning that 15m/- has been offered by the president that weekend.
For Simba, they have collected 5m/- for scoring one goal against Wydad Casablanca at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium courtesy of Jean Baleke and they can back extra cash if they score in the return leg in Morocco on Friday.
In his acknowledging remarks, Yanga Media and Information Officer Ali Kamwe appreciated the reward insisting that it is helping them to work hard on the pitch in winning matches.
“To say the truth, the presidential package is fuelling our performance and our pledge to President Samia is that we are not going to let her down this Sunday,” he said.
He then seized the platform to encourage Yanga fans to come in big numbers and cheer their team on a historical day stressing that they are all set to qualify for the semis.
