GF expands manufacturing as govt pushes industrialisation
KIBAHA: THE Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade Denis Londo has called on manufacturers to expand local production that accelerates Tanzania’s industrial development.
Mr Londo made the remarks yesterday during a visit to GF Vehicle Assemblers’ manufacturing facility in Kibaha, where he toured the factory to assess its production capacity, vehicle assembly operations and the technologies being used to enhance the value of locally manufactured products.
He further reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting domestic industries through policies that promote value addition and reduce dependence on imported finished products.
Elabortig, he said closer collaboration between the government and the private sector is crucial to advancing the country’s industrialisation agenda.
“Expanding local manufacturing will create employment opportunities for Tanzanians, reduce dependence on imported finished products and improve the competitiveness of locally manufactured goods in both the domestic market and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA),” Mr Londo said.
Equally, he added that the government is continuing to implement measures to encourage local production and strengthen value addition by domestic industries.
The Deputy Minister also urged manufacturers to increase production capacity to meet growing domestic demand while supplying the needs of other industries across the country.
Meanwhile, GF Vehicle Assemblers announced plans to expand its vehicle and machinery assembly operations to support Tanzania’s industrial development, economic growth and job creation.
The company’s General Manager, Ezra Mereng, said the firm will continue investing in modern manufacturing technology while strengthening the skills and capacity of Tanzanian professionals.

“GF believes that investing in local production and assembly contributes to building a competitive economy, developing local skills and supporting sustainable industrial growth,” Mr Mereng said.
He said the planned expansion reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the country’s industrialisation efforts while increasing the competitiveness of locally assembled vehicles and machinery.
