Geita Gold seek solace in duel vs Azam

THE Assistant Coach of the Geita Gold, Mathias Wandiba said their team is upbeat to emerge victorious in their Premier League match against Azam FC at Nyankumbu Girls Secondary School stadium in Geita today.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Tueday, Wandiba said the squad is well drilled to win and comfort the fans for the 5-0 loss to Simba in their previous encounter.

“Our team has arrived in Geita safely since Sunday night and we have been able to conduct intensive training here at Nyankumbu Stadium and the team is ready for the game. Our target is to win this game due to the fact that we lost our last Premier League match  to Simba at CCM Kirumba stadium in Mwanza,” he said.

Adding, he said they are aware of the importance of the game since it is part of their campaign in achieving their goal of finishing among the best four teams this season.

He, however, admitted that the match will be very difficult because Azam is a good team with talented players.

Additionally, Geita Gold’s custodian Sebusebu Samson said they are determined to fight for the victory in all 90 minutes of the game.

He called upon the team’s fans to come out in large numbers to support their players.

He said the league has become difficult due to the fact every team prepares well for a game. Geita Gold are placed seventh with 22 points in the league standings after playing 16 league matches.

The team has won five, drawn seven and lost four matches. They have netted 17 and conceded 17 goals.

After hosting Azam, Geita Gold will travel to Kagera to play Kagera Sugar at Kaitaba stadium on 25th December and on 30th December they will play Singida Big Stars at Liti stadium in Singida.

On 1st February Geita Gold will play against Dodoma Jiji FC at Nyankumbu stadium in Geita.
