Geita Gold have been eliminated in the CAF Confederation Cup (CAF CC) following a 2-2 draw against Hilal Al Sahil of Sudan at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam.
The country’s envoys have failed to proceed further on away goal rule despite stamping a 2-1 victory in today’s match.
In the first round encounter at Al Hilal Stadium in Sudan, Hilal Al Sahil produced a 1-0 victory which made them to have an upper advantage ahead of the reverse duel.
But, the away goal they sourced here has seen them stepping into the next stage and are set to face Pyramids FC of Egypt in their upcoming two-legged fixture.
As such, Azam are the only representatives in CAF CC who will launch their campaign in the second preliminary round of the contest.
However, Geita Gold were competing in the confederation cup for the first time in the club’s history and were too close to make ends meet.
They won the privilege of flying high national colours in CAF CC after finishing on fourth place last season in the NBC Premier League.
