DAR ES SALAAM: FISH mongers at Ferry Fish Market have been equipped by Taifa Gas Company with the knowledge and skills to use gas cookers and cylinders, in line with the company’s efforts to support President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s initiative to promote sustainable energy across the country.
Speaking at the training seminar at Ferry Market in Dar es Salaam yesterday, Taifa Gas Safety Officer, Mr Henry Muya emphasised that using clean energy for cooking is vital for consumer health and safety.
“The Sixth Phase government, under Samia Suluhu Hassan, is committed to moving Tanzanians away from firewood and charcoal, encouraging a shift to clean gas energy for cooking while safeguarding the environment nationwide,” Muya stated.
He added that it was essential for traders, including fish mongers, to learn how to use clean energy and gas cookers, simplifying their business operations.
“Charcoal and firewood can harm the respiratory system, so it’s crucial for Tanzanians to understand the benefits of clean energy, which also helps protect the environment,” Mr Muya emphasised.
Muya explained that clean gas energy is sourced from Arab countries where oil extraction occurs and the market for clean energy is rapidly growing in the East African region.
“Using gas cookers reduces costs, saves time and enhances efficiency for both businesses and households,” he added.
Ferry Fish Market Secretary, Mr Nassoro Mbaga acknowledged the importance of continuing to use clean and safe energy for environmental protection and business growth.
“I thank Taifa Gas Company for this seminar, which benefits traders at Ferry Market. I hope the knowledge shared today will spread among their colleagues,” Mr Mbaga said.
He further noted that clean energy and gas cookers are key to promoting business growth at the market and boosting the national economy.
