Gamondi tells Yanga players to keep heads up

YOUNG Africans Head Coach, Miguel Gamondi, has urged his players to keep their heads up after conceding a 3-0 defeat to CR Belouizdad at Stade du Juliet in Algeria on Friday night.

The country’s envoys launched their CAF Champions’ League Group D mission on the back pedal as they dropped three crucial points at the away venue.

On target for the hosts were first-half goals from Abdel Benguet and Abdelrahmane Meziane giving Belouizdad control before Lamine Jallow sealed the victory in the added time.

“This is not the result we anticipated, and as such we need to keep our heads up because there are several matches to play in the group stage and our target is to do well,” Miguel said at a post-match briefing.

He then called on fans to cooperate well and continue to have trust in their team in order to fulfil their intended objectives.

In his remarks, CR Belouizdad trainer, Marcos Paqueta hailed his charges for the good fight, saying they played in accordance with the arranged game plan.

“It was a difficult game, very tough as our opponents played good football, but we are happy with the success and producing a maximum of three points from the home venue is very promising,” he said.

Up next, Yanga host Champions’ League title holders Al Ahly in a match to be staged at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on December 2nd while CR Belouizdad will interface with Ghana’s side Medeama.
