Gabo launches Baraluko drama series

DAR ES SALAAM: Renowned Tanzanian film star Salim Ahmed, popularly known as Gabo Zigamba, has officially launched his new television drama titled “Baraluko”, describing it as a unique production set to transform the local film industry.
Speaking to media in Dar es Salaam today,14 May, 2025, Gabo said the series reflect the real-life experiences of Tanzanians while encouraging local audiences to support a homegrown content.
“In this drama, I have included some of the most outstanding football players of the moment,” he said.
“Everything in the series is perfectly implemented. Baraluko has been produced to the highest standards, and I believe it will change people’s perceptions about our local dramas.”

Adding, he said Baraluko targets entertaining and educating the audience, drawing from everyday Tanzanian life.
The drama features both veteran actors and up-and-coming talent, a move Gabo says is intended to nurture new skills while continuing to uplift established stars of the film industry.
“Baraluko” is set to premiere on Gabo Zigamba’s official YouTube channel today with the aim to reach a wider audience more conveniently.
Actress Mary Mtemi, who plays the role of Veronika in the drama, said the production meets high standards and is expected to satisfy Tanzanians’ desire for authentic entertainment.

“Through Baraluko, we’ve been able to quench the thirst for content that truly represents Tanzanian life. We are proud to showcase the beauty of our country by filming in various regions of Tanzania,” she said.
She said the drama centers largely on love-related themes and will be aired every five days.
Adding, she said the production team plans to tour arts colleges across the country to inspire young talents and share production experiences.
