KAGERA: BUKOBA District Council Chairman Mr Murshid Ngeze, has tasked the District Executive Director (DED), Ms Fatina Laay to take swift action and arraign in court some of the government employees who are suspected to have swindled millions of shillings.
He made the remarks during a recent full Council meeting which was also attended by the Bukoba District Council Executive Director (DED), Ms Fatina Laay.
“I have received reports that some of the government officials entrusted with collecting taxes from citizens were not submitting the funds in government accounts thus resulting in loss of millions of shillings. Bukoba District Council Executive Director (DED), Ms Fatina Laay has been tasked to take swift action and arraign in court some of the government employees who are suspected to have swindled millions of shillings,” he said.
According to the 2022 National Population and Housing Census Bukoba DC comprised 29 Wards and 94 villages with a population of about 400,000.
The wards include Buhendangabo, Bujugo, Butelankuzi, Butulage, Ibwera, Izimbya, Kaagya, Kaibanja, Kanyangereko Karabagaine, Kasharu, Katerero, Katoma, Kemondo and Katoro.
Kibirizi, Kikomero, Kishanje, Kishogo, Kyamulaile, Maruku, Mikoni, Mugajwale, Nyakato, Nyakibimbiri, Rubafu, Rubale, Ruhunga and Rukoma.
