DAR ES SALAAM: FRENCH multinational digital transformation and energy management company Schneider Electric has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the government’s efforts in bridging the energy access gap through innovative and sustainable solutions.
The company has established a team and office in Dar-es-Salaam, along with a state-of-the-art fabrication yard for assembling containerised substation solutions aimed at addressing the region’s infrastructure and energy needs.
During a visit to the newly commissioned yard, Executive Vice-President for International Operations, Mr Manish Pant, emphasised Schneider Electric’s commitment to Tanzania’s energy sector.
“Africa is at a pivotal moment in the global energy transition and Schneider Electric is dedicated to accelerating access to clean, reliable and affordable energy across the continent. In Tanzania, we invest in both technology and people, empowering partners to drive sustainable impact,” he said.
The fabrication yard assembles containerised substations, integrating components such as the low-voltage PRISMA distribution switchboard, solar chargers and inverters. These solutions are designed to meet the energy needs of various industries across the region.
With Tanzania’s electricity access standing at approximately 45.8 per cent, Schneider Electric aims to address the gap, particularly in rural communities, where electrification is just 23 per cent.
To meet local demand, Schneider Electric is collaborating with partners to develop and implement containerised substations.
“We ensure our partners are equipped with the skills and resources to provide solutions that meet international standards,” said Josiah Habwe, General Manager for Business Projects and Services in Tanzania.
“This partnership accelerates the adoption of sustainable energy solutions and supports the country’s infrastructure and industrial growth,” he added.
